Merger of FOCUS GmbH and SPECS GmbH

FOCUS Geräte zur Elektronenspektroskopie und Oberflächenanalytik GmbH and SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH announce the merger of the companies

FOCUS GmbH, Geräte zur Elektronenspektroskopie und Oberflächenanalytik GmbH, as a leading manufacturer of momentum microscopes, spin filters, electron beam evaporators, UV sources and vacuum-based electron beam and laser welding systems, and SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH, as a leading manufacturer of surface analysis components and systems as well as control systems for scanning probe microscopy, both subsidiaries of LAB14 GmbH, are pleased to announce that, through the merger of the two companies, they will operate jointly under the company name SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH with immediate effect.

This will result in unique products with maximum benefit for the customers, making optimal use of their respective technological leadership in the areas of surface analysis and surface processing. The location of the previous FOCUS GmbH in Huenstetten with all jobs will be fully retained and will continue to operate as a business unit of SPECS GmbH with its own premises. The companies are also merging while retaining their respective brand identities. As a result, SPECS GmbH, as SPECSGROUP, now offers instruments from the FOCUS, Nanonis, Enviro and SPECS brands from a single source. The respective product portfolios will be retained. In addition, a joint future strategy is being developed that will enable the stability and growth of all three locations in Hünstetten, Zurich and Berlin.
