At SPECS, we are thrilled to mark a significant milestone in our journey – 30 years of pioneering advancements in nanosurface analysis. Our story began in 1993 with our first order to design and develop an entire system from scratch. Back then, we relied on Leybold (UHV) components as our foundation. Soon after, we introduced project management for the conceptual development of custom systems, tailoring each solution meticulously to our clients' needs and requirements.

Those early years were characterized by bespoke designs, where every system was a unique creation. This approach allowed us to develop concepts that have since set industry standards, leaving a lasting impact on the market. With every system we designed, we accumulated a wealth of experience, knowledge, and functional solutions, forming an invaluable treasure trove.

This portfolio of realized systems, combined with the expertise we gained, empowered us to craft high-quality system solutions precisely matched to our clients' research tasks or demands. Over the years, we steadily expanded our resources in project management, research and development, and engineering. This growth enabled us to take on even the most intricate and demanding projects within tight timeframes.

A pivotal moment arrived in 2013 with the establishment of our System Engineering department. Comprising skilled project managers and designers deeply connected to our clients, their wealth of experience proved indispensable. This framework allowed us to consistently deliver around 30 specialized customer systems each year.

Amidst our commitment to tailor-made systems, we also ventured into standardized solutions to address diverse needs. The SPECS system portfolio now encompasses an array of offerings, from fully automated industrial-grade systems like Proven-X, EnviroESCA, and EnviroMETROS, to our versatile FlexMod solutions – a comprehensive catalog of interchangeable modules that can be combined to create customized solutions.
